ROUNDS 86 & 87
An emergency in the mines sends our intrepid heroes on a life-or-death mission to save the lives of trapped miners! But the situation is more dire than they could ever know, with their opposing team coming to finish the job...

Surface-side, meanwhile, there's a change of pace - the two teams are being forced to work together in order to safely deliver forty heads of bison to the Ranch: this is not a job for the faint of heart, however, and the bison they're herding don't always take well to being bossed around!

  • ROUND 87: Bring the Bison Home

    Location/s: The south-eastern region of Midpoint arena, to the Ranch

    The team's goal is to round up and drive a herd of forty bison to the Ranch. Three trained cattle dogs will be provided upon departure from Midpoint Saloon, by Soap. Success is determined by how many of the bison remain at the end of the drive. Failing to reach the Ranch in five days or less, losing more than twenty cattle, or a majority of the team dying, will result in team failure.

    Starting Jail: The Lucky Break (north)

    Provided Intel:
  • A map of three safe routes to lead the herd through the arena.
  • A list of known threats, which includes coyote, rattlesnakes, scorpions, numerous otherwise-unmarked bison within the herd.
  • Names and favourite places to be scratched of the three cattle dogs.

    Suggested Supplies (note: you will have to source these yourselves):

  • ROUND 86: Rescue or Ruin, Part 3

    Location/s: Miner Flats

    The Rescuers' goal is to investigate a cave-in at the mines and rescue any mining workers trapped below the surface. The more miners rescued, the higher the points. Not rescuing at least one miner will result in team failure.

    Starting Jail: None. Players will be directed to Miner Flats and receive intel there.

    Provided Intel:
  • An incomplete map of the mines, only accurate for the first two levels, of four total.
  • A list of missing miners, of whom there are five.
  • A probable location of the cave-in - level three, towards the back.

    Suggested Supplies (note: you will have to source these yourselves):
  • Rope
  • Helmets with headlamps (available from Moloch von Zinzer)
  • Medical supplies
  • Sturdy clothes
  • Spelunking gear (available from Booker's)

    The Hunters' goal is to take out the other team. Creativity is encouraged - the more creative a player's murder is, the higher their points. The trapped miners are not targets, the hunters are not required to rescue them, and no points will be lost for their deaths as collateral damage; however, actively choosing to kill them will result in points being deducted. Failing to kill at least one member of the opposite team will result in team failure.

    This team's outset will also be forcibly delayed by 12 hours, starting from when the opposite team leaves, in order to prevent "the game being over too soon".

    Starting Jail: None. Players will be directed to Miner Flats and receive intel there.

    Provided Intel:

    Good evening lovely players! Or good whatever time it is in your time zone :)

    This is an announcement to say that the next round of the game will be starting next weekend sometime (June 6th or 7th), and if there's anyone who wants to join up and try us out, now's the time! For the next round, new player characters and veteran player characters (those who have been here for a while, and are already past the "what are we doing here?" stage) are welcome, as are new PCs from current muns if you want to try out somebody different! Just go sign up on the taken page and request access to the comms and you'll be good to go :) Veteran PCs can even join in on the current mingle, if they'd like to.

    As a reminder, if you want to specify what room your PC is in, we do have a housing sign-up post. It's not necessary, but it's fun to know where everyone is :)

    Also, with one round behind us, what do you think needs tweaking for easier and more fun play? Clearly, the first change will be that your mod Gail is not allowed to be on two teams at once anymore because she could not keep up very well, haha. We know the round-ending was a bit abrupt, and will be working out timing and communication in the future.

    Hey everybody, welcome to Midpoint Saloon! We are super excited to have you here, you’re all marvelous people and have brought us a great cast of characters to torment play with :D

    The intro log is now up RIGHT HERE for you to get to know your teams in a cozy, intimate setting… if you can call it that... and tonight the first broad mingle for everybody, at the actual town of Midpoint, will go up for everyone not on the same team to scope out the competition and maybe make some friends. Or enemies. Whatever! We’re not picky!

    The main event logs for this round will go up on Monday, after giving you lovely folks time to acclimate to the setting and tag around a little. So no need to rush to the site of your scheduled misdeeds, there will be plenty of time for that.

    Feel free to use this post to introduce yourselves! I know not everybody here knows everybody else yet, since you’ve been pulled from a few disparate places by your connection to the mods. Also feel free to ask us any questions you’d like, we made a thread for it below :) Questions directly related to your team missions can go on the Round 84 and Round 85 info posts.

    This month, expect a diverse show of skill when our wonderful Players find themselves split on two wildly different tasks! A small ensemble is set on kidnapping the bright and bubbly daughter of the Railroad Tycoon, Tiffany Jamesson, with another crack team rushing to stop them!

    Meanwhile, a typical cargo delivery from Bank Town, home of all the gold in the Midpoint Arena, to the Ranch is waylaid by a group of bandits! Who will emerge victorious with the cargo - and their lives - in hand!!

  • ROUND 85: The Long Haul, Part 8

    Location/s: Bank Town to the Ranch

    The Drivers' goal is to drive a marked stagecoach from Bank Town to the Ranch, while protecting its cargo. Success will be measured by the amount of cargo remaining upon reaching the destination. Failing to reach the destination will result in team failure.

    Starting Jail: Mountain Hole (East-northeast)

    Provided Intel:
  • A map of the Midpoint arena, with two 'safe' routes for a stagecoah to travel between Bank Town and the Ranch, and two farmsteads where changes of horse are available (one on each route).
  • Free reign of said farmsteads for the purpose of switching horses.
  • The name of the contact at the Ranch to whom they are delivering, and the due time.

    Suggested Supplies (note: you will have to source these yourselves):
  • Guns and ammunition
  • Rope
  • Extra water

    The Bandits' goal is to steal the contents of a marked stagecoach before it reaches its destination. Success will be measured by the amount of cargo in this team's possession at the end of the round. Failing to procure any cargo will result in team failure.

    Starting Jail: Dead Man's Doorstep (West-northwest)

  • A map of the Midpoint arena, with two 'safe' routes for a stagecoach to travel between Bank Town and the Ranch.

  • ROUND 84: The Bounty of Tiffany Jamesson

    Location/s: Tycoon Depot

    The Kidnappers' goal is to kidnap Tiffany Jamesson, and extract at least $500 of funds in ransom (this can include gold, silver, goods, favors or points) from her father, the Railroad Tycoon. Success will be measured by the amount of ransom delivered by the end of round, and the length of time Tiffany has remained in Kidnapper custody. Failing to collect the target will result in team failure.

    Do not kill Tiffany Jamesson, or there will be consequences.

    Starting Jail: Sooey Jail (East-southeast)

    Provided Intel:
  • A map of Tycoon Depot marked with Tiffany's residence, the Bullion Inn, the homes of two of Tiffany's servants, and a safehouse.
  • A rough schedule of Tiffany's usual routine.
  • Telegraph instructions for the ransom demand, along with two options for ransom drop locations.

    Suggested Supplies (note: you will have to source these yourselves):
  • Guns and ammunition
  • Chloroform (rare)
  • Two-way radio boxes (rare)
  • Bribe funds

    The Protectors' goal is to protect Tiffany Jamesson, daughter of Mr. Jamesson, the Railroad Tycoon. Retrieve her if she leaves your sight. Success will be measured by how long the team has Tiffany in their possession, with bonus points awarded for not disruption Tiffany's routine schedule. Failing to keep Tiffany in sight for more than three days, or her father being forced to pay the ransom for her safe return, will result in team failure.

    Do not allow Tiffany Jamesson to be killed, or there will be consequences.

    Starting Jail: Southern Point (South)

    Provided Intel:
  • A map of Tycoon Depot, marked with Tiffany's residence, the Bullion Inn, and two options for ransom drop locations.
  • A rough schedule of Tiffany's usual routine.
  • Contact information for Mr. Jamesson, and a rough schedule of his routine.

    Hey guys! This is a semi-formal interest check for Midpoint Saloon, a private invite-only jamjar set in the Weird Wild West! Characters will wake up in jail and earn their freedom by competing against each other in randomised teams. Death! Destruction! Train explosions!!

    Please leave a comment here if you're intending to sign up (it doesn't necessarily have to be with your intended character's account, but listing who you ARE planning on bringing would be handy!) so we can work out what kind of numbers we'll be looking at!

    We're hoping to start the game around May 7!
